Philosophy

A very good friend of ours wore a shirt that read, "Today is the Birth of Tomorrow." This quote speaks to our philosophy and beliefs. Our memories of childhood are vague and fleeting, yet the enchanting moments are forever etched in our minds. As we look into our children's eyes and remember the sweetness of childhood, it is our gift to humanity to allow children to play. Through the creativity of their imaginations, free-thinkers will be born.

Toys made from natural materials such as wood, silk, wool or beeswax have a warm and honest quality. For example, a doll with a woolen body becomes warm in the embrace of a hug while synthetics remain cold. A wooden block has the weight that one expects to encounter when lifted. It tells a truth about the nature of the object whereas a plastic toy gives a false impression of weight and mass. Young children are learning about our world through their senses. It is our responsibility to provide an environment that tells the story of our world honestly.

We hope to help you create an enchanted space for your child to play. The mornings can be spent creating a play castle or fort. The afternoon is a good time for a tea party or secret clubhouse meeting. A simple play stand can become the walls of a great kingdom, an ancient puppet theater or the town's general store. By having simple but elegant toys, a child can put creativity to work. Within this enchanted world exists the most important quality of childhood ... imagination.
