Pirate's Cutlass
The Cutlass is the weapon most associated with the pirates and was probably more common among them at times than even a pistol. The cutalss is the one thing that would keep working after all the guns were discharged. With the cutlasses being shorter than a sword and having a broader, sturdier, curved blade, they were ideal for fighting in the close confines on or below deck. The blades also needed to be short, and sturdy, for the other tasks on the ship like cutting down doors and cutting lines.
Our Pirate’s Cutlass is made from cherry wood with birch dowel caps. A sturdy leather hand guard protects the hand while a suede handle wrap cushions one’s grip.
