Baltic amber is a fossilized resin produced by ancient pine, cedar and larch trees which grew in Northern Europe around the Baltic Sea 40 million to 200 million years ago. As atmospheric change occurred and the climate warmed, these trees extruded large amounts of resin in an effort to adapt to the earth's changing environment. As the millenia progressed, these extrusions sank to the Baltic Sea floor and gradually stabilized.

For centuries, amber has been used to relieve pain and discomfort in adults and children. When warmed by the skin, amber releases a homoepathic dose of succinic acid, the active ingredient in Baltic amber, which is a scientifically examined medical substance used in contemporary medicine. The highest content of the acid is found in the amber cortex--the external layer of the stone. Raw and polished amber may be used for therapeutic and bactericidal purposes. Succinic acid improves immunity; stimulates the thyroid, and soothes inflammation. Amber's anti-inflammatory and therapeutic properties are recognized by allopathic medicine as a natural analgesic.
