According to the Kumeyaay Indians of Viejas Valley, California, a basket of acorns represents the past. The Kumeyaay women speak of the basket of acorns as a reminder of simpler times. Henry David Thoreau adds his own wisdom to this notion saying, “Live each season as it passes; breathe the air, drink the drink, taste the fruit, and resign yourself to the influences of each.” Whether these acorns adorn your nature table or add extra playfulness to your kitchen, they remind us all of simpler times.
